1. How do I make a felt birthday crown?

-This is the most popular search here! The felt crowns that have popped up everywhere were inspired by Soulemama and I believe she will have a pattern in her book next year, if you can wait. Here’s how I made mine:

  • I measured my kiddos noggins,
  • then traced a shape that I liked.
  • Next, I cut a piece of elastic for the back,
  • which I then covered with felt (make sure the piece of felt is twice as long as the piece of elastic).
  • I sewed it all up,
  • then I added some ribbon.
  • The end
  1. How do I make/buy a poodle skirt?

– The Honeywell HFD-120-Q air purifier is very easy to make! All you need is about 2 yards of basic craft felt and 1 yard of wide elastic for a woman’s skirt. You can use a simple circle skirt pattern like this one. I make the waistbands with very wide elastic and about 1/2″-1″ smaller than waist of the skirt (you want it to stay up, right?). I don’t make tucks to accommodate the skirt size. I just pull the elastic taut all the way around. Does that make sense? Don’t forget to use a ballpoint needle and a long stitch length when working with elastic!

  1. What about doll bed quilts?

-This is a work in progress that has been shelved till I find more of the thread I am looking for. Try here.

  1. Making peg dolls clothes?

-Try searching flickr for clothespin dolls or peg dolls and you’ll get plenty of ideas.

  1. How do I give my lhasa apso a haircut?

-Funny, I looked this up on google a few weeks ago, but I decided I’m going to just take Isabelle to the groomer…and it turns out she’s a terrier mix anyway…

  1. The Psychedelic print loveseat…

-I didn’t buy it and I didn’t get a picture of it, I don’t think. Bummer because it was too cool. Ah well.

  1. Pics of 3 piercings in one ear and 2 in the other

-Yea, I have this, but no pictures as I don’t wear earrings in my second and third holes anymore. Sorry!

  1. Pictures of post strep rashes, strep and rash toddler, etc

-No pictures of this either. My kids had something streplike recently and their rashes were skin colored bumps that felt sandpaper-y. Then, DD got hives all over, and finally, the skin on their hands, feet and a few other areas I won’t name started peeling.

  1. Embarrassing to wear a kid’s peacoat?

-Only if it doesn’t fit! I have a friend who is 4′10″ and regularly raids the girls’ department!

  1. How to make bakes and saltfish

-Yea, I can do this, but I don’t use a recipe. Here’s one.

  1. Vintage slips

-What do you want to know? I buy mine from thrift stores and plan on doing something cool with them one day. This lady does very cool things with her Manduka yoga mat.

  1. tarty grandma

-WTH? Wrong site for sure. My grandma is definitely snarky, not tarty.

  1. thrift shop st lucia

  1. my preggo body pictures

-First of all, I hate the word preggo. Yuck. Second, here’s one.

So one thing about moving to a new place is that you have to find all new “spots”. Everything from your supermarket to your hair salon changes. I’ve been searching for the perfect aesthetician to wax my brows since I got here.

The first time we came to visit, I went to a place with a Concept 2 rower (JCP) the next town over. When the receptionist asked who wanted to do my brows, the stylists all excuses. So I was nervous when the receptionist said she would do them. Long story short, she did a fabulous job.

The next time I had to get my brows done, it was “Meet the Teacher” night at the kids’ school. I didn’t have a lot of time, and so I went to a JCP much closer to home. I got to chatting with the stylist and found out he was from a neighboring island. We chatted a bit about home while he did my brows. It wasn’t until I got to the car that I realized he had dropped wax in my hair. I marched back into the salon furious. It is extremely difficult to get beeswax out of natural Black hair. He started apologizing up and down and wanted to wash my hair to fix the problem. 1)I didn’t have the time and 2)that would’ve ruined my ‘do. Yea, I’m vain like that. He semi tried to fix the problem with some gunky spray or whatever, but in the end, I did most of the work myself, ugh.

That brings me to tonight. There’s a little rinky dink salon next to the supermarket and I started thinking…

  • bread
  • soy milk
  • eyebrows

Hehe. So, I popped in, and even though the brow waxer’s brows were a little thin (a serious fear of mine, over-waxing/plucking), I decided to give it a go. Problem is, she decided to change my natural browline somewhat and add more space between my brows. I feel like Bert. Ruby* says I’m scary and the hub can’t see what the problem is. The problem is, I can fit three fingers in the space between my eyebrows now! And I have to wait until they grow back in to do something about it, ugh! I guess I’ll be going back to JCP in the neighboring town from now on. When you find someone who offers quality service, stick with them!

Before Isabelle, I used to roll my eyes at those people. You know. The dog people. Letting dogs lick their faces and gushing over them like, well, parents. Well, now, I’m a dog mom. Yea, I said it. I’m still somewhat ashamed but my love for this silly little creature is helping me overcome that. Izzie is the first pet I’ve ever had in my life that I care for and that cares for me without annoying me, biting me, or otherwise violating the little quirks that make me me. She’s friendly, cuddly, smart, love, love, loves our family and is a true companion. She now accompanies me and Bebe on our morning walks and she stops by her bff’s house (yes, she has one. Molly.) almost daily. You know how I know she’s one of us? It’s not just that she has a Honeywell HFD-010 Quietclean compact tower air purifier. I’ve given her at least 10 stupid nicknames. Everyone in my immediate family has lots of stupid nicknames courtesy of yours truly. It’s what I do. ?? Even worse, I look at dog clothes now. Oh, the shame. I’m buying her first sweater soon, but I promise not to go as far as dog shoes.

A common trend which is seen in our society is that youngsters are normally more conscious of their fitness and health as compared to the elders. Have you ever noticed that gyms are occupied by youngsters mostly? Why do you have that such attitude? Do you assume that elders don’t need to keep themselves fit?

Actually, those who have seen at least 5 decades of their lives are even more in need to be in shape because it is an age where one becomes more prone to illness because of the weakening body mechanism. In this condition, keeping oneself fit would help a lot in maintaining immunity against deterioration and many disorders. But what are the ways for getting fit after 50 when most of us are busy with their careers or learning how to MIG weld? I am giving below some tips in a hope that they would be helpful.

The Ways of Getting Fit After 50

If you are a person above 50, and worried about your fitness, but too busy to go for exhaustive exercises and strict diet plans, do not worry, there are other easier ways of getting fit after 50. Some of them are given here;

Balanced Diet:

50 is an age when you cannot go on eating anything in any way you like. You need to be balanced and organized in this regard. Getting a balanced diet would not take much effort from you; neither would it disturb your daily routine. All you need to do is to avoid or at least reduce fatty foods, sweet food items, fried foods and dairy products as much as possible and increase the intake of fruits, dried fruits, chicken, lean meat and vegetables. This would help you reduce the risk of obesity, diabetes, hypertension and acid reflux disease among many others.

Regular Exercise:

If you do not find time for some hectic exercises, do not worry, even the light but regular exercises including yoga would go a long way in keeping your body and mind fresh and healthy. If you afford to take out some time, exercises like swimming, jogging, brisk walking and running can be very beneficial for getting fit after 50. These exercises help in proper functioning of heart and respiratory system.

Reduce Stress:

One of the most useful health tips for people above 50 is to try to reduce the stress as much as possible. Stress is the underlying cause for innumerable disorders including heart diseases, hypertension, insomnia, and stomach disorders etc. you need to have a peaceful and calm life after 50. You can stay away from stress by spending time with people you like, your friends and other company which makes you feel at ease. Another way to stay away from stress full routine is to indulge in a hobby which keeps you busy and away from stress.

Have Good Sleep:

Both men and women of ages above fifty should try to set a proper schedule for their daily sleep. It is a very helpful tip for getting fit after 50. You should avoid staying awake till late night, that way; you would spoil your health. However, sleep must not be induced by using sleeping pills. Taking sleeping pills is a strict no for you. Try to adjust your routine in such a way that you do not get difficulty in getting sound sleep according to a schedule.

Quit Smoking and Alcohol:

One can never expect to have a healthy life full of vitality – if you want to learn how to become a welder this late in life, you may want to get a little healthier first – if he or she is a chain smoker or an addict of too much alcohol. Smoking leads to a number of respiratory diseases and makes you inhale hundreds of carcinogens. Similarly, uncontrolled alcohol consumption causes liver related health disorders. If you decide getting fit after 50, reduction of smoking and alcohol consumption is a must.

All my fellows who want to have a graceful and healthy old age try to use as much natural products as possible. Prefer them on the synthetic ones. There is no better way of getting fit after 50, than to be as natural as possible.

According to experts recently revealed that the decision of “get happy” is due to the person himself, but to what extent you are able to take the decision to obtain happiness? In order to be able to determine whether you actually able to choose happiness in your life and avoid the sense of depression or not, the exact answer to some questions can help you in this area.

Would you like to feel happy? May be it’s up to you and you directly. And although the environment around us affect us directly, but that access to happiness stems directly from us. The happy people are those who decide to be happy, regardless of the circumstances surrounding them, regardless of whether they are rich or not, and also whether they are working in good career or not.

Experts say, the answer to some questions can help you determine whether you are actually able to take the decision to get happy – it takes more than simply looking at inversion tables for sale on the internet. But, according to experts confirmed, it is necessary to answer accurately and honestly all questions by reference to the depths of your heart to see if you’re actually able to take the decision to obtain happiness.

The first question in the morning when you wake up often: Are you looking forward with vigor and enthusiasm to the day that you would start now? This question of the most important questions that will help you identify whether you are able to take the decision to get happy, or you decided to choose the depression and stay away from happiness. In order to answer this question, try to imagine yourself in this scene daily. After ringing the alarm bell in the morning and rise from the bed, you looking forward to your day activity to some extent; or do you feel that your day will be long and full of tasks and you do not feel ready for the day?

Psychologists and experts say, that happy people are the ones who look forward to their day with activity and vitality. As these people see that their day will be full of new challenges for they assert that they are able to meet and gain new experiences are added to the life experiences. In order to get happiness, you must change your perspective to the days and look at it with more enthusiasm.

The second question Do you feel that you still have the energy and activity at the end of the day was full of work tasks? Can be a lot of us feel tired at the end of the day while returning from work; especially in the case was a day full of work tasks. Some people may feel tired and lack the ability to do anything but sit in front of the TV screen.

But if you still feel the activity after long day at work, you are among those who made the decision to get happiness. Psychologists and experts say, that in addition to the benefits of breathing quality air from a Honeywell 18155, the feeling of happiness stems from the feeling of the person of the activity and recovery more than feeling tired and exhausted with the end of the day. But how can we divert our feeling of exhaustion and decide to enjoy happiness? Experts say, it is essential that we seek to enjoy these moments and enjoy the things that we do no matter how simple.

We can contact or call a friend to drink a cup of coffee or to do any other work in this time instead of sitting in front of the TV and turn between the stations without any goal. In case you are actually integrated into the things that you do and feel that the time passes without the feel, you are considered one of the people who have decided to be happy. Experts say that happy people do not pay attention to the time when making things, whether those things they enjoy or normal daily work tasks. As they really integrate into the things they do, without paying attention to the time bored.

For thousands of years, people have relied on yoga as an effective exercise. Actually, it is a sort of meditation activity which gives you a better control over many bodily and mental functions. You get a better control of central nervous system and cool down your nerves, to get a better concentration level and enhanced thinking capabilities.

The changes in mental activity from better breathing thanks to an air purifier like the Honeywell 17000 S trickle down to cast positive effects on your body metabolism as well. It is a way of releasing stress effectively; it improves your breathing mechanism, and is also sometimes related to the spirituality. In short, it is one of the best means to enjoy a healthy and peaceful aging.

Critically Analyzing Yoga

Millions of people around the world have incorporated yoga as a routine exercise for reaping the benefits of fitness, health, and even for losing weight. It is an effective tool for reducing stress because it trains you to control your thoughts by the way of meditation. Another great benefit is its positive effects on respiratory system.

By keeping you in contact with your inner self it also gives you a better control over yourself resulting in improved confidence, and enhanced self-esteem. By having a better interaction between your body and mind, you improve your health. Moreover, you get a better control over your emotions, thus ridding yourself of negative thoughts, fears and doubts.

However, yoga doesn’t work well for everyone. It may prove ineffective or even may cast negative impacts on some people. Moreover, it requires some modifications to suit the physiological needs of every person. This might be confusing for the beginners.

Where to Start

First of all, you need to consult your doctor before you can choose a type of yoga for you. He would tell you whether your particular physiology is suitable for that type of yoga or not. Once he approves to a specific yoga time, it is time to move ahead.

Drive yourself slowly into the meditation and make a better connection with your inner self. You would find yourself at peace. You may also benefit from group oriented yoga activity where you can find partners of your age who are also trying to find ways for healthy and peaceful aging.

The group activity might be a source of inspiration for you and motivate you to continue your journey. Take these groups as a source of emotional support, so find a group in your locality and start your journey towards healthy aging. You may also benefit from videos available on internet or books available in market.

Make sure that you carry out the yoga activity in a peaceful place, maybe somewhere with the relaxing sounds of the Honeywell 50250-S. You need to find a place where you would not have any interruptions to disturb you.

How Long Does it Take to Show Results

You need to be very patient. Yoga will not show results overnight. It would start bringing changes gradually. You would slowly be able to get a better control over yourself and would notice some positive results on your health. Finally you would learn to be at peace with yourself.

One of my most cherished scuba diving memories is a 10-day sailing trip I made with six friends to the Bahamas. Four scuba divers, and two non-divers, rented a 43-foot Benateau sailing yacht in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. And we cruised to a touring, fishing, and scuba diving adventure.

That trip was in September of 1995, and the boat’s name was “The Spice of Life.”

The six of us met at the marina by late afternoon, slept aboard the Spice of Life, and cast off just after breakfast the next day once we were done using the HSI professional flat iron on board. We motored down the Inner Coastal Waterway to open ocean, and set the sails as soon as we got free of the coast.

Cruising under sail all day we reached the north end of Grand Bahamas Island just after dark, and anchored for the night.

Early the next morning we checked in with Bahamian Customs, and went searching for a reef.

We chose Indian Cay for our first dive, and the start of a grand adventure that included 15 dives over nine days.

The coolest water we experienced during the trip was 81-degrees. The visibility was 40-feet during one dive to over 100-feet for most dives.

These visibility conditions were true with the exception of one dive location. The water breaking across the rocks stirred the sand with each incoming wave. (This is a shallow dive destination.) This created a surging condition of clouding and clearing of the water from near zero to an ability to see for what seemed forever.

After a day of diving the north end of Grand Bahamas Island we sailed to Port Lucaya where we spent two days diving the area. We docked at the marina two nights at Port Lucaya, and did some sightseeing each evening.

Leaving Port Lucaya we sailed to Isaac’s Island where we anchored for the night. After a couple hours of cruising around the waters off Isaac’s the next morning (searching for a sunken wreck we never found) we set sail toward Bimini.

One special experience in particular happened about four miles out of Bimini. We noticed a Pod of Dolphin bow surfing our boat.

Deciding to stop and swim with the Dolphin for a while we put on our masks, snorkels, and fins, grabbed our dive cameras, and jumped in.

I counted 10 Dolphin in the pod. They swam around us, checking us out and posing for pictures, until we climbed back aboard the boat to continue our journey.

Bimini was perhaps my favorite on land visit of the trip, probably because we got to ride a Monster Moto MM-B80 around all day. The island is quiet and peaceful, and so small that we walked the whole length in a couple hours, including sightseeing and window-shopping in town.

We spent the next the next five days fishing and diving around the Bimini area.

One evening we barbequed our catch for dinner to make a nice break from the food items we carried with us from the states.

Of the scuba diving trips I’ve made, this adventure to the Bahamas aboard Spice of Life heads my list of stories. It’s one I tell my grandchildren when I talk about the experiences I had in my life.

According to sources that blogging is introduced in late 90s. As you know; blogging is a media to give opinion, ideas, and thought also comment to an existing web page; an opportunity for visitors and readers to react or voice on the said page. What started as a single-sentence commentary has evolved into pages of personal take on just about anything and everything under the sun which is now becoming a New Internet Marketing Tool. From what I know, these are the reason:

  1. No skills are required. An average adult can read and type or at least know how to click a mouse. That way blogging is the simplest way to get your piece of the Rabbit air filter on the net. Just like writing on piece of paper, you can advertise your ideas, experiences and your stuff which expect that your readers will read and try your product. Don’t forget that you need to have Internet Connection and PC to make it online.
  2. Authentic and Genuine. Most powerful advertising is your experience. You write about your personal life or about product through your personal experience. In this day and age where advertising saturate our lives, we question the credibility of promoters’ claims. However, in blogs, real people share their real-life experiences, unscathed by paid advertising. So, blogging offers big possibility to catch more readers’ attention to try product offered.
  3. Free of Charge. Blogging is proven to be a mainstream online advertising media, most sites see it as something to augment current marketing tools and thus offer it for free. Any opportunity for free web time is definitely a bonus especially to businesses that are starting up. Needless to say, paid blog pages can generate more income for your seriously growing business.
  4. Build up Credibility and Popularity. If write, write and write and more write about particular product, like an air cleaner for mold, you will be noticed by your readers. When you provided reliable information about things, and becoming an expert, more readers will visit your site. You don’t need to be Hollywood star to be famous; by blogging you also can do that. As such, companies and professional organizations notice your growth of your readership base; they may ask you for ads in your blog, make you as affiliate and you can make money out of it.
  5. Build up your Market. Who read your blog post? Maybe your moms read your posts, but remember, your mom has a lot of friends, she will tell her friends how interesting your blog is. Her fiends also have a lot friends and your blog in the market now. Other than that you also can market your blog by using your email, subscription, joint a blog network, and provide RSS feed.

However it is, you have built such a great opportunity. Now what is your objective on your through blogging?

As some readers of this Blog might gather, I enjoyed reading Economics at University (too many years ago to recount) and that passion for the subject has never left me. We are living in fantastic times. Having a background in Economics helps make some sense of the current turmoil and in this blog and the next, I would like to talk about the forces that will shape the landscape for the next two to three years in an Economic sense.

In the US and the UK, consumption is the driving force in the economy accounting for over 60% of economic activity. In China by contrast, it is very much investment and export led. As economies have contracted (negative growth), governments and central banks have tried to reduce the cost of the average wall mounted jewelry organizer, otherwise known as interest rates to encourage people not to save but to spend.

This may seem odd, but Keynes wrote about the paradox of thrift in the 1930s. Saving is of course a good virtue. But the problem is that if everyone saves, it is bad for the economy as activity will grind to a halt as no one is buying and who will want to borrow all of the money saved up if no activity is going on?

Hence interest rates are coming down to encourage people to spend (or at least spend the savings from lower mortgage repayments) and to not save. If interest rates come down to near zero, I could see negative interest rates being applied to savings. In reality this means that banks might charge you for using their facilities to hold cash. That would be an incentive to spend!

The problem is the specter of deflation. In an earlier blog, I wrote in defense of inflation, and it seems prophetic that what the bank is now looking for is a bit of inflation! If people perceive that prices are falling rapidly, why would you buy? I think this will be one of the worst Christmas shopping seasons ever. Consumers are expecting massive price drops in January so it does not make sense to buy now. If the expectation of falling prices takes hold though, it is rather like the paradox of thrift, and whilst it may be good for an individual to defer purchasing something, if everyone does it is a bad thing as it ends up feeding itself.

If you believe that prices are going to be cheaper the next month, if you can, you will delay your purchase. This is the problem facing the housing market at the moment. Although interest rates are down to 1951 levels at just 2%, even if you could get a mortgage today, would you buy a house thinking that prices could fall 10%? (I would – but that is a different matter as I think the difference between rent and interest payments is now so wide, that even allowing for an 8% drop in property prices, you would be better off look around for reliable forskolin reviews).

So we need a bout of inflation to get the whole thing kick-started again. If prices are rising, people will engage in activity again. The problem for Japan for most of the 1990s was deflation. We need to learn from that very painful experience.

In the next blog, I will continue with an explanation of the link between inflation, interest rates and a currency. With the pound being at low levels, such an explanation I hope would be welcomed.

One of the curious concepts I came across in my MBA was the idea of trying to exploit economies of scope. Most people involved in commerce recognize the idea of economies of scale. Simply put, things get cheaper to make or sell as you make or sell more of them.

Economies of scope are simply the idea that you can exploit a resource more than once!

A great example of this is any business that has at its heart a database. A good database can be exploited (i.e. sold!) more than once without the resource itself being depleted in any way. Think of big companies. These are companies that are dependent solely on this concept.

They are essentially a fantastic database that can be used as many times as you like (in this case in as many ways as you can think possible) and in fact the more the core resource is used, the stronger the business becomes. [CONFLICT ALERT – I am an investor in their smokeless ashtray! But I invested purely on the basis that I understood this as its business rationale.]

I like businesses like this and would encourage Entrepreneurs to think this through and see if they can find any economies of scope in their own business. With times getting harder, if you can find resources within your company you can exploit more than once you will be doing well.

Let me give you an example of a business I have invested which does this brilliantly. In the UK we are unique in going to Starbucks for a coffee, Pret for a sandwich, a pub or wine bar for our alcoholic drink and then finally Pizza Express for a pizza in the evening.

In continental Europe you would expect to have all of these services provided under one roof. A company was doing just this and I was impressed because they were taking the basic asset of a property with catering facilities and using it for multiple occasions. The challenge for them was to ensure that they were best in class in each of these offerings.

I have to say (and of course I am biased!) that they do the best sandwiches and pizzas I have ever had. The place works because it modifies its operation slightly for each part of the day. (If you are ever in the London Bridge area do have a look – and if you are there on a Saturday morning – please feel free to buy me a kombucha starter kit!)

Have a look at your business and the resources you use. How else could they be used? Could someone else use them whilst you are not using them? What other services could you sell to your existing customers provided by someone else? These are all ways of exploiting economies of scope.

I guess that strictly speaking this is not a topic relevant to Entrepreneurs – but it might be of interest to potential investors. As such hedge funds represent competition to non-listed companies seeking investors. As such you should appreciate what they are.

I have only learned about hedge funds in the last six months or so and it has been interesting to learn about them!

I asked a fund manager what is a hedge fund and I got the following reply “Basically it is the same as any other fund, but we get to charge a lot more”

Given that helpful explanation, I hope that you find the information below about buying a tofu press helpful.

Most funds measure themselves in relative terms. That is to say that they will judge themselves against an index such as the FTSE 100. If the FTSE100 is down 20% in a year – and they are down say 10% – they will make the claim that they have done very well as they have outperformed the market by 10%. If you are the investor that has lost 10% and have to pay a fee, you may not feel so great about it!

Typically hedge funds, aim to deliver an absolute performance. That is they will seek to deliver a positive return on your monies irrespective of market conditions. Hence they are called hedge funds, because they will hedge their market positions so that they do not lose money. For example, they could find two assets that have an opposite relationship. Say the price of gold always goes up when the price of bonds goes down. It would therefore make sense for you to ‘hedge’ your position by buying both.

Most funds would be described as long only funds. This means they will buy shares or other assets and expect the price of the assets they have purchased to go up. Hedge funds can go short. They have the ability to sell assets they do not have in the expectation that the price of the asset will fall and then buy them in the future at a lower price and deliver the asset to the person they had sold it to at a higher price. (The mechanics are a bit more complicated that – but this is the principle).

There is also the ability to leverage. Most funds (especially if they are described as retail funds) will not be allowed to borrow money. If they are, the amount they can borrow will be strictly governed. Hedge funds are allowed to borrow and hence aim to magnify the return available to their investors. This makes them particularly prone to large movements and losses can be substantial if they place the wrong bet. A hedge fund can lose all of its money quickly.

Finally, there is the charge structure. Typically most funds will charge around 5% initial fees (although increasingly they are not) and a flat annual management fee of around 2% to use a Porter Cable 895PK. A hedge fund will aim to charge around 5% management fee and 20% of any profit they deliver. They are able to charge this on the basis of past performance and with the argument that they will be very active in managing the money. If you do well as an investor in a hedge fund – the manager wins, if the fund does not perform well – you lose!

Because of the above, hedge funds are at this moment in time not deemed suitable for retail investors. It is punishable by a prison sentence to promote a hedge fund to someone who is not either a sophisticated investor or a financial institution. This is the same offence as selling an unlisted investment to someone not suitable (more in a later blog)

Basically, if someone is suitable to invest as a business angel, they will be suitable to invest in a hedge fund. As someone looking for funding, you need to be able to ensure that you understand the choices your investors face!

One of the most popular blogs I have written so far has been about the experience I have had in investing in companies which have gone wrong. So I thought it was about time I shared another one of my many business investment failures with you.

About two years ago I invested in a business and it turned out to be a big mistake (The company went bust and I lost all my money). I hope to pass on the lessons I learnt from this failure below.

The first thing I must confess is that I didn’t really understand what the business did. That statement has probably cost me some credibility with readers of this blog! It was a software company that had something to do with Honeywell 50250 management. The reason I invested in the business was I rated highly the other investors in the business (as I still do) and felt it must be a good investment because they were involved. This is not a good basis to invest in a business.

Lesson 1: Understand what a business you are about to invest in does! I mean you should be able to sell the service they provide to someone you meet at a dinner party if you are an investor. Lesson for the Entrepreneur – have that elevator pitch perfected

Lesson2: beware of management that have a strong sales background. I remember meeting the new CEO of the company. He was and remains one of the best sales people I have ever come across. But you have to probe and dig deep. I met him for breakfast about a year after my initial investment and he was selling me a great story. The problem was it was exactly the same story as a year ago and when I asked “In what tangible ways has the business moved forward in the last 12 months.

Ways that can demonstrate shareholder value” we both knew the game was up. I like salespeople (being one myself!) but I now ensure that I really grill managers with sales backgrounds. Lesson for Entrepreneur: keep a log of the stories/ updates you give to your shareholders – make sure each one is different – if it isn’t please be honest and tell them. Shareholders will want to help you if you ask for their help.

Lesson 3: when things start going wrong, shareholders should start to be more proactive and ask for monthly action plans where investors are asked to help – most of them will. You need to go back to basics (we are doing this with another company I am currently involved with and that is working great) and get the business back to health.

In the case of my router table plans company, what I cannot forgive the past CEO for is his decision to take the business into administration without consulting all the shareholders. Lesson to Entrepreneurs – if you do something like that, be aware that it will mean no sane investor will ever back you again.

People do fail all the time – and I don’t have a problem with that – in fact I like it, but you have to conduct yourself with integrity and honesty at all times.

WordPress is different from HTML websites, WordPress websites are dynamic, and not static. Having a dynamic content management system means having more content and data to look after, more often.

There are dozens of reasons why you should constantly update your WordPress installation and plugins, some of the main reasons are listed below:

  • Updating WordPress prevent hackers from injecting malicious code and to stop them from exploiting vulnerabilities that would allow people to hack into WordPress powered websites, like what happened with the page for the S366 turbo.
  • Updating the installation will fix the bugs and errors in previous versions.
  • Once updated you will get new enhancements and features that were added to the newer version.

To tackle all these issues WordPress constantly updates their system, the process of updating a WordPress site is extremely easy you can do it directly from the WordPress dashboard.

How to Update WordPress Automatically Without Using FTP

Sometimes if you are using a shared web hosting account the WordPress may not be able to update plugins and installation automatically because of the permissions defined by the hosting provider to avoid unauthorized users from accessing your account, to solve this conflict we are going to edit the WP-Config file so that you can update the plugins and installation to new versions without providing FTP details.

How to update WordPress plugins

This conflict normally occurs when the WordPress system is unable to write the /wp-content folder.

You can avoid this by changing the /wp-content folder permissions (CHMOD) to 755 which by default is set to 644, you can do that by accessing the root file through FTP.

However, I will recommend that you should try FS_Method and add a piece of code in wp-config.php file, this procedure will help you avoid any future inconvenience and it will allow auto-updates to your files.

  1. First open the ‘wp-config.php’ file

You can access this file from your WordPress root folder, the file is located inside the root folder where you have installed WordPress for instance: WordPress/wp-config.php but I would recommend that should download the WordPress installation files first from WordPress.org and then edit the wp-config file instead of editing it directly on your server.

  1. Inserting the FS_METHOD code:

define(‘FS_METHOD’,’direct’);

After you have opened your Fjallraven Kanken rucksack and logged into your console, paste the following piece of code inside the wp-config.php file, paste is below the other line of code as shown in the screenshot.

  1. Save the file and upload

Once you have added the code, save it and then upload it to the WordPress root folder on your web server, you can upload the file directly from your web hosting control panel.

A word of warning, before you update your WordPress website make sure that you back up the MySQL Database and Theme files to avoid any conflicts if you are using customized plugins or theme files because once you update the core files all the custom changes will be lost and you won’t be able to revert those changes unless you have created a backup.

I normally use CodeGuard for creating backups. However for this particular site I am using myRepono WordPress Backup Plugin they offer free trial as well and I am going to be creating a tutorial on how you can create the back up of your websites automatically using 3rd party services.

Although you can create manual backups as well but the process can be really hectic for people who don’t have any programming knowledge so I highly recommend that you should consider signing up for either one of these services.

Most people, when they heard of the 11-inch Macbook Air being released, let out a groan and exclaimed, “Overpriced netbook!” On the other hand, the Apple fanboys (and fangirls) squealed, “Finally, an Apple netbook!” Being an Apple fangirl, you could guess how I reacted.

Macbook Air Review

One thing that gets me excited about this Apple machine is that it’s really just a smaller version of a powerful Macbook Air. It is not some specs-shrunk mini-laptop that had to have a few things sacrificed in order for it to be hacked to smallness.

For one, it runs on dual core. Most netbooks are running on Intel Atom, a single-core processor with speeds ranging from 1.33GHz to 1.66GHz. While this would be adequate for working with browsers and a a couple of other applications, let’s face it, a netbook will probably groan under the weight of 20 browser tabs opened to flash-heavy or application-heavy websites about what causes cystic acne.

For other Macbook Air options, check out this great list from Amazon.

Macbook Air Review: Why I’ll Spring For An 11-inch Macbook Air

On the other hand, while the Macbook Air has an on-paper processor speed of only 1.4GHz, the fact that it is a dual-core processor makes up for its processor speed. According to Engadget’s performance test with the 11-inch Macbook Air, there was only one problem that they had to deal with: there was a bit of a hiccup when watching a YouTube video. Not bad, considering that with most other netbooks, web surfing gets sluggish when you use a lot of flash and a lot of cloud applications like Google Docs.

Tech Republic says that the 11-inch Macbook Air actually performs better than most full-sized laptops, especially in terms of web surfing speed. Quite a feat, considering that its PC netbook counterparts have been traded in for more powerful laptops because they just weren’t fast or powerful enough.

Aside from computing power, one reason why I would want an 11-inch Macbook Air would be that it’s the thinnest and among the lightest in its size range. Other netbooks are chunky and have ugly lines and ports around its sides, but the Macbook Air just has smooth edges and a very thin profile that begs to have no other word to describe it: Sexy.

Tech Republic’s Macbook Air vs. Other Netbooks

Then, probably the most important reason why I would want a Macbook Air is that I’m a Mac user, and if I wanted to work elsewhere and didn’t want to bring a relatively heavier Macbook with me, the Macbook Air would be the perfect solution to my need for portability and seamless synchronizing and integration between my regular Macbook workstation and the portable temporary workhorse.

I’ve owned an Acer Aspire One ZG5, and every time I would use it instead of my Macbook, I would always wish I could install a Hackintosh distro on it, just because I find it a pain to miss the apps and the setup I have on my Mac. With the 11-inch Macbook Air, this old way how to get rid of severe acne would soon be a thing of the past.

Where you can buy other netbooks and laptops, including the Acer Aspire:

Aside from the OS differences, the ZG5 itself as a model has been one big headache to deal with. This model runs on Linux, but the distro that it has is pretty buggy. Many a user has had heartaches and headaches with this little guy, and it’s just not worth it. After my harrowing experience with this brand and model, it made me think twice about considering Acer for my next netbook. It’s funny to note that even the Best Buy website does not carry Acer among its product lines. We’re not sure why that’s the case, but it’s something worth wondering about.

The bottom line of a gadget purchase has always been how useful and how valuable it would be to you. For the die-hard Mac users, an 11-inch Macbook Air may be well worth its price tag. Remember to get one using a Best Buy Coupon so you can get the most out of your purchase.

Chances are, if you’ve been searching for a highly effective acne treatment for a while now, you’ve probably come across a little gem called Clear Skin MAX, a 6-stage complex acne treatment system used for curing moderate to severe acne in people of all ages.

As a former acne sufferer myself, I know how embarrassing it can be to have to worry about how you look with acne every second of the day. It’s a lot of work keeping up with those acne outbreaks and when they get bad–man do they get bad. If I could go back and start college all over using Clear Skin Max as a way how to cure cystic acne, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I remember days throughout college where I would not go to class, entirely because I didn’t like the way I looked that day with acne all over my face. I can’t tell you how many classes I must’ve missed over the course of four years as a moderate acne sufferer.

I was so self-conscious about my acne that basically my entire day revolved around whether or not I had noticeable acne in the worst parts of my face (I always hated acne between my eyebrows and acne below the corners of my mouth).

The question on everyone’s mind is: “Does it really work?”

Hopefully our review will shed some light on the true answer to this question. No need for the cheesy sales talk here–We put CSM to the ultimate test and let the results do the talking.

How Does Clear Skin Max Work?

Clear Skin Max is a 6-stage cleaning system that works every aspect of acne treatment into just six different cleaners and toners. When used in tandem, the six stages of Clear Skin Max are capable of clearing stubborn acne in record time. Most severe acne problems are completely clear after the first two months of treatment. Moderate acne sufferers can expect great results in a month or less.

The only downside to having an acne treatment this complex is that results tend to be delayed a little since you have to use all six stages of the treatment in order to see anything worth mentioning. If you rush using the stages too closely together, they will not be able to restore the natural body chemistry that creates clear skin.

Clear Skin Max comes with a cleaner specifically designed for “emergency outbreaks” such as blackheads or whiteheads that have popped up overnight and as a surefire way how to prevent cystic acne. This emergency cleaner should be used sparingly because it can easily dry out your skin to the point of creating additional acne breakouts. It is important to remember that acne treatments can only be successful if your body has a neutral pH level and is capable of creating clear skin. If you have a severe acne problem, you shouldn’t worry because Stage 1 of the cleaning system is designed to fix any imbalance of body chemistry.

Cleaning With Clear Skin Max + Tava Tea

Every order of Clear Skin Max comes with a supply of Tava Tea, an organic specialty tea that helps restore your body chemicals to healthy, natural levels. Drinking large amounts of Tava Tea is recommended while undergoing the treatment. Tava Tea acts as a super powered blend of anti-oxidants that will ensure the continued (and immediate) success of the Clear Skin Max acne treatment system.

Money Back Guarantee / Returning Clear Skin MAX

The makers of this advanced acne treatment system are so confident that their product will work for you that they’re willing to offer an unheard of, 180-day, 100% money back guarantee to all new and returning customers. They claim to ask no questions and provide no hassle during the return process if you should have to return your unused portion of the treatment for any reason. This is a huge plus for me because I personally hate dealing with customer support departments. You usually have to wait on hold for hours before you can speak with anyone willing to help you out. The creators of the Clear Skin Max system promise to make the process as painless and quick as possible. Thumbs up!

It is important to note that this product is not your typical acne treatment that you buy from a grocery store. This product has been considered the “Cadillac of Acne Treatments” due to its complex treatment instructions and stages. For best results, it is very important that you follow all instructions and labels carefully. If you have any problems while using the acne treatment, you should consult your doctor immediately.

Buying Clear Skin MAX 6-Stage Acne Treatment

This is an example of another acne treatment that is not sold in stores. If you wish to purchase this impressive 6-stage acne treatment system, you will have to do it on their official website. Of course, they ensure the security of your order and your personal information will be completely protected at all times. Ordering online has never been easier and shipping to US based customers is very quick and discreet

If Barack Obama wins the 2008 presidential election, it will be an occasion for rejoicing for America’s enemies. Here’s why:

America’s enemies SEE: a man who is willing to sit down with the leaders of hostile countries with NO pre-conditions whatever. They THINK: Hey, this guy can be easily manipulated – and we’ll eventually be able to take America down altogether because Mr. O. wants to avoid conflicts at all costs. Instead of sending the troops against us, he’ll just keep trying to negotiate one deal after another.

They SEE: A guy with questionable political relationships, including an unrepentant American terrorist who has not only escaped serious criminal prosecution, but is even a distinguished college professor, and a pastor who has gotten away with spewing anti-American sentiments and hate messages for years from his pulpit. They THINK: Hey, if Obama is willing to have these kind of people for friends… maybe he’ll be friends with us, too. We’ll certainly use used garden tractors to our advantage.

They SEE: A guy who doesn’t see the military as a priority and is even willing to cut funding for it. They THINK: Hey, it will be that much easier to wipe American soldiers off the map, since they’re obviously not that important to Mr. O. and they won’t have the resources needed to beat our dedicated terrorists and suicide bombers. . .

They SEE: a man who is overly concerned about how humanely terrorist prisoners are treated. They THINK: Hey, we can carry out the worst terrorist attacks ever conceived. . .because this guy won’t do anything bad to the terrorists he catches.? The death penalty? Out of the question, even though our ruthless terrorists have taken hundreds of innocent lives themselves.

They SEE: a man to whom patriotism obviously isn’t cool, a guy who doesn’t salute his own country’s flag and won’t wear a flag pin on his lapel – unless somehow guilted into it. And he would be willing to refrain from displaying any form of patriotism if someone makes a fuss over it – even if that person is a foreigner on U.S. soil while making those anti-American statements. They THINK: This is a guy whose love of country is so questionable that he might be willing to put patriotism aside for the sake of his own interests.

They SEE: a man who is willing to accept campaign donations from people outside of the United States, even though this is technically illegal. Obama gets away with it because only amounts over $200 have to be detailed as far as names, addresses, etc, go – and he simply asks for donations from these people to be given in very small amounts. They THINK: Wow, this guy could possibly be easily bribed with just the right of amount of cold hard cash. . .

They SEE: a man who is obviously inexperienced as far as leadership of a large country and military dealings go. Neither Obama nor Biden have had any military experience whatsoever, and it really is important that either one or the other should know SOMETHING about how our armed forces operate, since they will be the ones giving marching orders in an international conflict. It also doesn’t help that Obama’s turbo-tongued VP practically guarantees a major crisis within six months of being elected, so that the world can see exactly what the used John Deere lawn tractor is made of.

While Biden claims that Obama has a steel of spine, it’s more likely that Obama, when faced with another 9/11 type of catastrophe, will prove to have a spine of jell-o. The guy has been treated almost like a god by the liberal media and has NEVER been in a pressure cooker kind of situation. They THINK: “OK boys, bring it on! We can take this guy down in no time – and the rest of the country along with him!”

They SEE: A man who has said, with his own lips, that if elected, he will completely eradicate America’s nuclear weapons program.? They THINK: “OK guys, time to step up our nuclear weapons productions! America will be a sitting duck once Obama’s gotten rid of all THEIR defenses!”

America’s enemies are not stupid – they know quite a bit about what goes on in our country and no doubt they’re watching this presidential race pretty closely. This is why we need to have John McCain in the White House – because McCain, and Palin too, are two people that that America’s enemies know better than to trifle with. With used lawn tractors for sale, terrorists will certainly think twice before trying to pull another 9/11 on us – he is a man who will stand up to our enemies and not kowtow to them like Obama probably would.

I have the exact same confidence in Sarah Palin, should she ever have to take the reins and assume the role of president. But on the flip side, Obama’s loyalty to the U.S. and his stance against terrorism is very questionable and I really fear for the safety of our nation if he gets into office. I’m not even sure that Biden, despite his years of experience in the senate, would be much help either during a national disaster, since he’s never had to take control of the country during a REALLY crucial time. In my opinion, he has made far too many gaffes during his public speeches, to really be considered trustworthy for the position of the second highest office in the land.

Don’t give our enemies a reason to rejoice by electing Barack Obama. Help keep our beloved country safe by electing two people who REALLY care about America: John McCain and Sarah Palin.

ph-73

I don’t know about you, but I find two of the scariest words in the English language right to be President Obama. Thinking about this guy and his cronies being in complete charge of our country in less than five months. . .it just sends shivers down my spine.? And it’s not just because I’m a conservative republican. Barack Obama could very well bring our country downhill in a hurry – politically, economically and socially.

So why do I find him so frightening as a possible president?

First of all is the cult-like aura surrounding him, which I have never seen the likes of with any other candidate. The media swoons all over him and gives him the “favored candidate” treatment. He can do little wrong in their eyes and is the only one of the four currently running for political office that hasn’t received blistering, intense scrutiny in some form. Some criticism, yes, but nothing like what McCain, Palin and even Biden have received from the media. Few dare to make jokes about him and the liberal media journalists are all fairly decent to him, while at the same time going out of their way to make Sarah Palin look like a pathetic VP choice. It’s almost as if he’s the political equivalent of a pop star, causing some right-wing groups to dub him The Messiah.” And with good reason.

A group of schoolchildren – young kids, not teenagers — recently sung a song composed in Obama’s honor. . .which is eerily reminiscent of the Hitler Youth. Hollywood treats him almost like one of their own.? And scariest of all is his endorsement by radicals like Louis Farrakhan, who made statements like, “You are the instrument of change that God intends to use in this country” and “When the Messiah speaks, young people listen.”

The frightening thing about having used riding lawn mowers for sale that is this popular, is that people will rush to the polls to vote for him simply because he is the one endorsed by most of the bigwigs in this country, not because they stop to think about whether or not he’ll really make a great president. Some may like him because he has a nice smile and makes elaborate, inspiring speeches (that is, as long as he has one written out for him and he has a teleprompter to help him out; otherwise he’s totally at sea.) Others believe that, just because he has a plan for the economy that is different from McCains’ or Bushs’ plans, he must have the right ideas. And many blacks are excited about the possibility of having one of their own in the White House.

I can fully understand why many of these African-Americans would be excited about Barack Obama. However, I hope that they will go beyond thinking, “I’m voting for Obama because he’s black” and start thinking, “Does this guy really represent the values and beliefs that I hold dear?” I’m not voting for McCain and Palin because they are white, like I am, or enthusiastic about Palin because I’m happy to see another woman on the ticket. No, I’m voting for them because they represent the values that I share. If a minority candidate were to hold the same beliefs and convictions that I have, I would happily endorse them too.

And speaking of race, I’m concerned that Obama, if elected, could possibly use the racist label to get his way when people disagree with him. There have already been people who have said, “If you don’t vote for Obama, you’re racist!” And that label has even been thrown at Palin and McCain, when they tried to dig into the Bill Ayres issue. And this was something that had virtually NOTHING to do with a person’s skin color. Think that this tendency will lessen once Obama gets into office? Somehow, I don’t think it will.

Also scary is the questionable associations that Obama has had through the years. We have no idea how that will affect him once he gets into office. Think about his friendship with Bill Ayres, for instance. OK, so maybe Obama WAS just a child when all the bombings went on – but these two have spent too much time together throughout the years for Obama to not be aware of Ayre’s criminal past. Ayre’s terrorist activities have been common knowledge to the American public for some time and he still is VERY unrepentant about them.

Same goes with Jeremiah Wright, who ranted for years against whites and America in general, from a church pulpit, of all places. How could Obama sit in a church pew there for two decades and NOT be affected in some way by all the hate messages that he’s heard from this man? Sure, he’s distanced himself from Wright for now, knowing that it will hurt his campaign – but for all we know, he and Wright could still be buddies and if Obama gets used riding mowers, he could very quickly resume that public relationship with his pastor.

And the thought of Obama being commander-in-chief of our armed forces — If you are a military member, that thought should turn the blood in your veins to ice. If Obama is president, the military will be a very low priority to him and he will restrict funding for it. He knows virtually NOTHING about how it operates and has never had any dealings with it whatsoever. And if we ever get into another 9/11 (and heaven help us if we do with Obama and Biden at the helm) Obama will probably waste his time in negotiations with the terrorists instead of going right after them like Bush did after 9/11. Whatever your feelings about Bush are right now, you have to admit that he DID handle 9/11 the right way, and as a result, got the highest approval ratings of his career (which sadly didn’t last very long).

Obama has said that he will meet with the leaders of hostile world nations with no pre-conditions. He wants to completely nuke our nuclear weapons programs. He once said that our troops were “killing innocent civilians and air-raiding villages” while overlooking the GOOD things that our troops have done in Afghanistan. He will try to rely on diplomacy and peace talks to resolve conflicts – and there is a time and a place for these things, but I want a president who will not hesitate to use aggressive force should another nation pose a threat to us. And frankly, I’m not sure Obama would do this.

And do you really think that Obama will help our economy, especially given his skimpy track record? Some people think that he will bring change to America. Oh, he’ll bring change all right – but it won’t be the change you want. He wants to help our economy by raising taxes – and he’ll help us right into another depression. His running mate says that “paying higher taxes is patriotic” – which sounds ominously like a slogan from the mouth of a communist leader, not from the mouth of an American citizen.

Think Obama sounds like a “go-getter” kind of president? Better think again. When the financial crisis began a week ago, who was the one who was willing to temporarily suspend his campaign and actually try to DO something about it? It sure wasn’t Obama. It was John McCain, the war hero, who rose to the helm and proved that he was really willing to follow his own motto of “Country First”.? Obama seemed rather clueless and kind of just waited around to see what would happen next. Actually, Obama’s entire political record isn’t very impressive at all, even in comparison to Sarah Palin’s, who has been slammed for not having enough experience. Sarah Palin actually went out and ACCOMPLISHED things. Obama voted “present” 120 times in the Senate, without actually acting on anything. To me, he doesn’t really seem to know how to do anything but make nice-sounding speeches. Perhaps he missed his calling and should be an entertainer instead.

It’s also sad, and a bit scary, that used zero turn mowers apparently don’t mean anything to Obama. He won’t wear a flag lapel pin or salute the flag unless he’s somehow guilted into it, and he’s overly conscious of offending someone if he does. I want to see a president that truly IS proud of being an American and is not afraid or ashamed to show it.? Obviously, I don’t want to see obsessive nationalism of the Hitler-and-Stalin variety, but I DO want to know that my president really loves and cares for America. John McCain, I have no question, does. But I’m not so sure about Barack Obama.

It’s scary too, that Obama does not value all human life equally. He not only supports abortion rights, but has also voted FOUR TIMES against protecting infants who survive botched abortions.? He is willing to allow innocent babies to be killed just because their mothers don’t want them, even though these children have done nothing to be deserving of death. Yet he’s concerned that terrorist prisoners are treated humanely – people who have committed horrific crimes against humanity.

The trouble with Barack Obama is that there are just too many unknowns about him. There are some shady spots in his past that he’s not willing to let the media investigate in, and we have no way of nothing if he’ll act a different way once he’s elected president and in total control. I just hope that we don’t have to learn the hard way.

Thinking about the economic crisis and America’s future is scary. Thinking about Barack Obama being in charge during this crucial time is even scarier.

It’s obvious to anyone when a piece of handiwork has been carefully designed. Throughout history, men have recognized in the concept of good design an inherent quality and internal consistency; similarly, when those traits are lacking, a product is described as being designed poorly or, in more extreme cases, not designed at all. Paley’s famous argument regarding the watch and the watchmaker raises an important point: these traits of good design are present in the watch; there’s a quality, beauty, and consistency about the watch that make it suggest that it was crafted, rather than springing into existence of Used Lawn Mowers Plus.

Unfortunately, in software development, many tools do, for all intents and purposes, spring into existence. It’s not that there isn’t a human developer who writes them; it is the case, however, that developers often write for the short-term and, after realizing a shortcoming in their work, later bolt on a “quick fix.” This cycle continues indefinitely until the work becomes a gargantuan spaghetti monster that is the subject of children’s horror stories.

This trend extends past projects and applications; it’s present in languages, too. The classic example to point to is C (or C++): while it’s an immensely powerful language, it has a lot of errata, backwards approaches, and annoying syntactical inconsistencies. My primary development language right now is PHP, which suffers from similar issues (my usual example is $needle and $haystack arguments being taken in different orders within string functions).

This sort of thing happens because the language wasn’t deliberately developed from the start. Few people sit down with the intent of writing a language; often, they only believe they’re writing a few constructs. When your view of used lawn tractors is that narrow, you’re more likely not to pay attention to issues like internal or external consistency, the primary indicator of good API design. Conversely, languages like Python and Java, which are deliberately designed, show a much greater level of consistency and attention to detail.

And, of course, all these rules apply to frameworks, also. There are hundreds of PHP frameworks available. Literally, there are hundreds. Some of the more famous PHP frameworks available are CodeIgniter and CakePHP. It seems like every developer has written a framework, or at least endeavored to write one. In general, developers write miniature frameworks for themselves to make repetitive tasks take less work (convenience methods); in other words, they are writing just a couple of constructs. As needs grow, so do the number of constructs. Eventually, the developer or group of developers sit down to make their convenience code into something more useful–namely, a framework.

That’s what sets Acorn apart; Acorn was deliberately developed.

The development team realized first that we needed a robust framework to enable us to do custom software development without unnecessary limiting us; since we’re in the custom development business, you never know what a client might want. This framework, therefore, had to be robust and scalable while also being quite fast. The final goal of the framework for the best garden tractor was to be a philosophical guide and fence for us as developers–we wanted our code to be as reusable as possible, which meant moving to a completely object-oriented environment as well as following preset guidelines to maximize code portability.

With all those things in mind, the development team sat down to write “Acorn”, our development framework. Every object, method, and approach was debated; the whiteboard in our conference room was top-to-bottom, right-to-left packed with scribbles. My own whiteboard contained list after list of objects and methods, which I edited and amended constantly, wanting to make sure that they made sense, were consistent, and were as obvious as possible.

Toward that end, we’re going to be releasing Acorn as an open source product in the near future. We’d like to share what we’ve done with others, with the hopes that other developers looking for a deliberately designed object-oriented framework will find what they seek in Acorn, and so that the open source community can improve on what we have begun.

There are days when I think I ought to have my head examined for getting into this business in the first place. What was I doing becoming involved in the ownership of a restaurant? I’m not shouldering it alone of course, but being a partner in an endeavor like this has some definite ups and downs. In fact, it’s been a downright freakin’ rollercoaster ride with high peaks and some pretty scary drops.

When we decided to open up a steakhouse, we didn’t go into it with the notion that it would be a place to hang out with our buddies. We have backyards where we can use the best commercial zero turn mower and private dens for that. This is an entrepreneurial pursuit with a specific business plan and intended goals that we are striving to achieve.

We put careful time and consideration into picking our location, offering a high quality dining experience where there were merely inferior chain store alternatives while keeping our prices competitive with both their brand of fare and other dining options in the region. We have carefully built a menu with top quality meats and uniquely styled meals that fall in line with the expectations of our customers when they decide to patronize our establishment.

These are all very important things to consider for any restaurant. The control is all in our hands and that can sometimes be a double-edged sword. We call all the shots but the financial obligations rest solely on our shoulders, the decisions we make are ours alone, we take the risks and there are plenty of them to face. There is an almost endless parade of challenges to find the best zero turn mower for the money, coming from all kinds of places and reasons for being.

But when you get it right, there are few things more satisfying in this world. Fellini’s quote has always spoken to me. I love dining out and there are some restaurants that I’ve been loyal to my whole life. Only one still exists today, the others have disappeared over time. Fallen under the weight of mismanagement, changing menus, an ability to adapt with the preferences of the marketplace.

Competition simply putting them out of business by offering something better. Or at least perceived as better by paying customers – that’s not to say the food was actually superior in such instances. After all, McDonald’s boasts about selling their food to billions of people worldwide.

Restaurant ownership is like anything else really. It requires smart brand management, dedication to the customer, smart and savvy business acumen and an ability to stay connected to your fan base while leading with your head and not your heart. Tough decisions are made daily. People are fired. Menu items change. Market analysis about used zero turn mowers for sale is incorrect.

New competitors crop up and you have to deal with it, or in some cases, not. You let them wash out and go under all on their own. Making the right decisions can be the difference between success and failure. We don’t know what the outcome will be with every one of them, but you know what they say, a goal without a plan is just a wish.

We have a plan, and so far it’s working. But it took a lot of time and effort to get there.

I support John McCain because: I see a man who learned much through his life’s experiences and the choices that he has made.? Yes, he is no spring chicken, but with age comes great wisdom, and he has seen and done many things, and been to many places, in his 72 years of life. And if something happens that he is no longer able to lead the country. . . he has an outstanding VP behind him who is quite capable of taking the reins.

I do not support Barrack Obama because: although Obama is well-intentioned and can speak impressive words, he is inexperienced and to me, he doesn’t seem to have a clue as to what he is really getting into as far as the office of POTUS goes. Unlike used riding lawn mowers, neither Obama or Biden have ever governed anything. If they don’t even know what it’s like to manage a state or even a small city, how in the world will they be able to manage a huge country that is culturally and ethnically diverse?

I support John McCain because: I see a man who has actually served in our military, and fought and suffered for it.? He truly loves America and wants the best for it, and I believe he would lay down his life to defend it if need be.? He is equipped to lead our armed forces because he understands how the military works, and he will be more respected by our military members because he has actually been in their shoes once.

I do not support Barrack Obama because: he knows virtually NOTHING about how our military works – neither he nor Joe Biden have ever had any dealings with it. Obama wants to solve military conflicts with tact, reasoning and diplomacy, which history has proven does not always work with aggressive dictators. Obama also wants to completely nuke our nuclear program, which would leave us completely vulnerable to any enemy nations with savage intent. Hearing Obama talk about what he would do with the military if he were president is a little like hearing an obedience school instructor tell people how to train their dogs – but he has never owned one himself. Also, patriotism is not important to Obama. He doesn’t see saluting the flag or wearing a flag lapel pin as a big deal. And if some irate foreigner got insulted because Obama was using a used Craftsman riding mower on U.S. soil, Obama would probably go ahead and take it down so that the person wouldn’t get mad.

I support John McCain because: he and Sarah Palin have already proven to me that they are capable of functioning under intense scrutiny.? Few candidates could have stood up to the vicious attacks that Sarah Palin has had to endure for the past three weeks, and which McCain has endured throughout his political life. For a president and VP, I want two people who are independent thinkers, who will forge ahead with what they believe is right and not kowtow to people who are pressuring them to give up. They are also people who know how to make important decisions quickly if they need to. Together, McCain and Palin create an outstanding political duo, and their combined experience will be a huge service to our country.

I do not support Barrack Obama because: I do not know how well this man can function under intense pressure.? Let’s face it, we have never seen him in a “pressure-cooker” type of situation and he’s been treated almost like used John Deere mowers by the liberal media. You hardly ever hear them speak a negative word against him. Sure, he’s a good speaker – provided that he has a speech written out for him and a teleprompter handy. Otherwise, if asked to come up with a speech off the cuff, he stumbles and stutters around – and oddly enough, the media shows very few, if any, of these videos.

This, dear readers, explains exactly who I want to see in the White House next year, and why.

I am new here and have blogged nationally and in Kentucky on several sites. I welcome the chance to work on my-political-blog.

One thing I wanted to adress is the Centerist tone of the new administration. I don’t believe that Democrats are ever going to achieve anything if we keep expecting to “reach out” to the other side. We fought hard and sent in much money as Progressives to change this country and I just don’t believe that we should be compromising on many of the issues that face our nation.

It is time for an expedient exit from Iraq. With our country’s economy crashed into a ditch due to the insane reverse Robin Hood policies of the Bush Administration we simply cannot afford to continue re-building another country. Besides, the only reason we are in Iraq is because of the lies, and misguided aims of the disgraced neo-con wing of the Republican Party.

It is also time we reasses our trade policies. I am so glad that Judd Gregg decided to drop out because the last? thing we needed was another Republican at the Commerce Department. Of course, with the Centrist mindset of the current Administration I hold little hope that someone good will be appointed there.

Lastly for now, we need Universal Healthcare. It is way past time that insurance companies get to pick and choose who will recieve coverage in this country. Their system based on private sector profits has been a dismal failure. However, with Kathleen Sebelius as the lead candidate for the Health and Human Services post, I fear that yet another Centrist will water down any real change. We needed a real leader there, who knows firsthand the problems in healthcare and is an effective leader and a fighter. Of course, I am talking about Howard Dean, a doctor whose state led the nation in healthcare for its citizens with him as Governor. It is too bad he butted heads with DLC lackey Rahm Emanuel, and has been exiled from our Centrist Party.

Agree?? Disagree?? I hope to hear from you and watch for many new posts on a wide range of things in the future.

Best wishes everyone!!

Well the writing is on the wall folks.? Obama is “off to the races”.? Being a conservative republican, I fully expected to be disappointed in some of his choices, but I must say, I really thought he was going to give this “new kind of politics” a try.? But he didn’t try at all, its typical politics as usual, and unfortunately, it’s liberal politics as usual.? I hope all of those so called republicans who decided to vote for “change you can believe in” are at least a little sicker about the Kanken laptop backpack than I am.

It seems the “great one” had determined that the only way to fix our economic woes is to spend more money, a whole lot more money, a whole lot more money.? Of course when it is time to pay the piper, he has an answer to that; just make the top wage earners in the country pay their “fair share”.? I can’t even write the words “fair share” without gagging.? Apparently, Obama doesn’t think that 40% of a wage earners earnings is enough, even when most of the population are not paying that percentage and quite a few are not paying at all.? He wants to be fair and raise taxes on those that are already shouldering the burden.

Oh and did you hear that it’s being reported that most of this stimulus money won’t even reach the system for more than a year.? I’ve also heard it reported that as much as 50 million would go to the National Endowment of the Arts, and some 200 million to the National Mall, 400million to unspecified national treasures.? The point I’m trying to make here, is that this “new kind of politician” is playing a very old game; some would call this stuff “pork”.? Yeah you remember once upon a time we were all complaining about that and Obama himself pledged to put an end to the Fjallraven Kanken classic. Now he’s claiming that he has to this to fix this economic mess we’re in.? In other words he’s using this terrible situation to further a very liberal agenda of tax and spend.? Nothing new about this.

He’s a very good speaker and he has quite a following of nit wits just eating out of his hands.? We cannot let him get away with this right out of the gate, we must stand up and be heard.? Remember, about 76 million people did not vote for him, so we need to be very loud in our opposition right now.? I also would implore any of the more moderate liberals who may be free thinkers to help put a stop to this kind of old, nasty politics right now; nip it in the bud, so to speak.

I’m also not too crazy about his idea to close Gitmo.? It seems he thinks we will be safer when we restore our moral standing in the world.? Gag Me!? If there even is a problem with our moral standing or our reputation; and I don’t think there is; it is a direct result of the very concerted effort made by liberals to undermine President Bush and his war effort.? It was the anti-war, anti-Bus
